On Friday evening at 7pm all the hard work for the past two months came together, and the gallery that I and others have worked so hard to create was finally and most enjoyably opened officially, by the Rt Hon Michael Howard, Lord Howard of Lympne and Lady Sandra Howard.
Rt Hon Lord and Lady Howard of Lympne, Catherine, and myself at the grand opening of Paul Apps Fine Art Gallery in Hythe.
Friends and guests during the evening
Our Lord Mayor Cllr Michael Lyons, a great supporter
Discussing my large Lion painting ‘Luangwa Courtship’ with his Lordship
Lord Howard saying some warm and very kind words in his opening speech.
Hey and where would we be without toasting all that good sentiment and best wishes for the future.
That ribbon did not want to cut, scissors were blunt, but perseverance won the day
And finally the ribbon succumbed and my gallery was officially opened. Our Lord Mayor, Cllr Michael Lyons had some lovely things to say in his speech, and so great to enjoy his support for my gallery and for art in Hythe as well.
So many lovely best wishes from my guests.
Catherine who had worked so hard along with my Mother, Sister, Son Barnaby, Elizabeth, Andrea and our MC Mr Steven Warwick, who seemed to have avoided most of the photos.
My Sister Lynn working hard.
Yours truly fielding some questions.
Arh! There he is Mr Steven Warwick, professional Toastmaster and MC, and an all round great guy. If you have a function call for his services – find a link on my website, you will not regret it.
Elizabeth – such a lovely and supportive friend and collector, who along with many others made this event one that will be remembered and talked favourably about.
A word for my kind and generous landlord Mr Vernon Morris and his lovely wife Annie. He has been so generous and supportive in making this gallery happen. Heaps of updating and remodelling had to happen, and he made sure that it did… Thanks Vernon and Annie…..
Just more of my guests.
One from outside the gallery. It was packed inside, a warming sight and great to see all these people enjoying the originals on offer from myself, Catherine and my step daughter Sam Harvey
In conclusion I had a great time, as did all those who attended. For those who could not for many reasons I hope that you can find your way to the gallery and see my artwork on display in these lovely new surroundings.
I must once again thank my distinguished guests:
Lord and lady Howard of Lympne
Mayor of Hythe Cllr Michael Lyons
Toastmaster Mr Steven Warwick.
Also to my family and friends who pitched in cooking, cleaning, sorting and making sure that I was were I was meant to be, saying what I should be saying, when it all mattered.
So finally to all of those guests who made it and were sharing this evening with us.
Thank you……. Here’s to many years of happy trading in ‘Paul Apps Fine Art’ Gallery.
